So me and my friend were talking about this last night...
I mean, what would happen to all the magazines? half the tv shows, and
the news?
Millions would lose there jobs...
Millions would have have nothing to live for.
It really makes you think how much of our time is spent
checking out brad pitts' newest woman, or wondering why Brittney had a baby.
Think about all the women in their 40's! They'd have nothing to do!
When you really think about it its pretty sad isn't it?

I agree completely, Nicole. While the celebrity world is superficial, sometimes bizarre, and on the borderline pure of ridiculousness, it does have an affect on the behavior, trends, etc. of society. So although it may be nice to be able to lock yourself in a room and be antisocial, being well rounded nowadays means knowing a little pop culture too.

By having the media define what's "in" or "cool" just makes everyone mindless drones. Who the heck cares what Britney did this week or what the heck Paris is wearing? Maybe people should start thinking for themselves as individuals instead of having to wear the name brand just to be accepted. CURSE YOU MOTHER MEDIA AND YOUR RIDICULOUS GRIP ON THE MINDS ON INDIVIDUALS!!!!

Its amazing how much we don't realize though the media has an effect on us though. There is so much we do and say because of the media, and we don't even think twice about it. Now some of this is just culture, you have it nomatter where you go, to what desolate land you may travel. There is still going to be some sort of angle on how things "should" be done.
The other part though is our advertisment and media rich culture, a lot of our descions we make are based on advertiements / media, or relate back to them and this happens regardless of whether we like it or not.
Its kinda freeky really. But when it comes down to it there is not tons we can do.
The ad's / media are still going to be there and effect us in some way.
